Can I call for a same day appointment for an evaluation and diagnosis?
Yes! Please call as soon as possible if you are experiencing an urgent medical matter that needs to be evaluated by our practice. We will do our best to fit you in to the schedule and see you as soon as we can. We are here to help you! If you are experiencing a true medical emergency – please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Can all my questions, concerns, and procedures be done in a single visit?
We will always do our best to answer all of your questions to your fullest satisfaction. However, it may be necessary at times to set a treatment plan where non-emergent issues will addressed on future visits.
This enables us to ensure that each of your questions are addressed thoroughly and with the requisite attention to detail.
Can I have benign growths removed?
Many patients are bothered by numerous benign growths such as skin tags, raised moles, and benign keratoses. Although not billable through insurance, these bothersome growths can be removed very easily at affordable rates by our doctors. Our current self-pay rates are available for you to view on this website.
Who do I contact in the event of an urgent matter?
Our practice is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Please contact us on the Klara HIPPA compliant app or call 212 – 379 – 6477 and have a provider paged if you are having a question that needs to be answered promptly and cannot wait until the next business day. We will endeavor to answer your inquiry as soon as possible.
In our experience, our patients have always exercised the best judgment in determining when to page the on-call physician and when they can wait until the next business day.
Please note, however, if you are experiencing a true medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
What is a co-pay and do I have to pay it for each visit?
On certain visits the ONLY payment that Modern Dermatology Pllc will receive from your insurance provider is the co-pay amount determined by them to be paid by you. All co-payments are due and payable on the date of service.
What is co-insurance?
Co-insurance is a similar agreed upon patient payment but is based on a percentage (for example 10% of the bill) rather than a set fee. No two insurance policies are exactly alike.
How much coverage will my insurance policy provide? How much am I responsible for paying?
Your insurance policy is individual to you and it decides how much a visit to a specialist (such as a Dermatologist) will cost you out-of-pocket. If you have a high deductible plan please call your insurance company in advance of your visit and quote them the CPT codes that we provide to you on our self-pay rates (on this site). We are bound by our contract with your insurance provider to bill you negotiated fees for your office visit and for any medically covered procedures that are performed.
Will I be charged for a cancelled appointment or if I “no-show”?
No. Every scheduled appointment occupies a time slot with a provider that could be utilized by another patient who is unwell or would like to undergo a comprehensive skin cancer screening examination. We ask that you are courteous to others and cancel your appointment with as much notice as possible. If patients habitually abuse this courtesy we will revisit this policy on a one-to-one basis.
Will I see the same doctor every time?
Yes – we want to develop a strong relationship between physician and patient.
